This thread is to be used for posting easy ways of remembering concepts.

For example, Biophilia has an easy way of remembering membrane potential:

"if you write Na on a piece of paper, you can think of the hole in the a of Na (for sodium) as a cell. You can write a tiny K (for potassium) inside of the hole in the a. The N is outside of the hole because the concentration of sodium is greater outside, the K is inside the hole because the concentration of potassium is greater inside."

It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it is helpful!

Hopefully eventually I can get them arranged by subject, and turn this into a powerhouse thread.

My analytical chem professor would always say A-HA! aloud as he was writing the Henderson-Hasselbach equation on the board. It was his way of keeping the equation straight!

pH = pKa + log [A-]/[HA]

Hope it helps people 😀

TBR's fantastic way of remembering frequency of pendulums and springs.

Pendulums GLide, so f(pendulum) = 1/2pi * sqrt(G/L)
Kick eM springs, so f(spring) = 1/2pi * sqrt(k/m)

And, a funny little mnemonic I used for memorizing what affects NMR shifts for organic:

HADES - Hybridization, Aromaticity, Delocalization, Electronegativity, Shielding.

the "cat" has paws. = cation vs anion!!!

i love ridiculously obvious ones. ones that make people go, "you needed a nmeonic for that? hahaha. good luck on th mcat"

then i laugh as well. when they turn around, i toss an expensive mechanical pencil at them, piercing their skin. then i run.
