If so, How do they let you know.. phone/email/ or an invitation to interview?

I too am interested, for my signif. other. What are the options if you don't find a position? I guess one could take a year off, but then debt will acrue fast. Or do a prelim year if possible and then reapply. But what have people done in the past?
