Hey, I just wanted to ask all of you SUNY students how your experience at your school has been. I'm particularly interested in hearing what Upstate and Stony Brook students think of their schools since these are the two I'm especially interested in. Thanks for any advice.

I am actually a student at Syracuse and I have to say I luv the shcool. I may not feel like I luuuuuuuuuv all of my peers, but I have found my niche and made a nice group of friends. The teachers have been great so far and the school has an awesome clinical education system. Although we dont get too much clinical experiences (unless you take summer anatomy, as I did), they start us off pretty early with lectures on taking histories, and doing the physical exam. As far as Syracuse the city goes, It's not the best palce to live. I actually went to undergrad at stony and I loved it there. I mean theres no party scene in stony, but the area itself is very safe and nice. Syracuse on the other hand has a better party scene (although much smaller than the NYC I'm used to, also when you go out, you'll either see your peers, SU college kids, or 40 yr olds. If you like ur classmates, that shouldnt be a prob.) But Syracuse the city in my opinion is pretty sketchy. I felt much safer driving around stonybrook at night than I feel here. So although the location is not the best, the med school at Syracuse is awesome. As far as stony goes, I have a few friends there and the students seem pretty unhappy. The first year at stony they really try to scare the crap out of u. At Syracuse its not until second year that they stress u out for real, however they do ease you into it. Now don't get me wrong now, first year is no joke, but Iv'e heard that in Stony its worse. Anywho, thats all I have for now. lemme know if you have any questions about Syracuse.

thanks for your info - upstate is definitely one of the schools I think I'd like. just as another question - do you know anyone who did RMED? it seems like a cool program if you're into the "quiet, serene" environment.
