I'm taking nominations for the best trolling performance by a medical school. Some schools seem bumblingly incompetent, while others seem to troll with the grace and ease of a seasoned 9th grader. So, what do you all think was the best/worst troll performance of this cycle?

I'll start with my own:
Today Vandy SOM sent me an online bill for tuition even though they rejected me pre-secondary months ago.

Thanks Vandy.

My advice to Vandy is "Shhh...Don't tell CNU about this!"

I nominate Rush for not telling applicants that they have a 150 service hour requirement, and then waiting until December to reject all the applicants who didn't meet that secret requirement. What a scam, that information needs to be made clear before people pay to apply to a school they have no chance at.

Heard about this a few days before applying, thank god I didn't take the time or $$$ to apply there!

Case Western sending out emails like "We saw your MCAT score, looks like you're qualified to be an anesthesiology assistant!" is pretty good as well.

I am also proud to announce that my MCAT score qualified me for immediate acceptance, not once, but four times, into podiatric school at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.

EDIT: And fine troll job by Mayo Clinic (and probably others) for requiring an application fee separate from AMCAS although they do not require or request secondaries.

I would have to go with one of the following;

1) Harvard sending me a personalized letter telling me "Apply to Harvard, you have a good shot, here are fee assistance waivers for your primary and secondary applications", and then failing to ever even update me on my application status, whether it be with updates on where they are in application reviews, information on the program, or telling me to apply to other programs. Instead they simply disabled my applicant portal. Seems like a big waste of time on everyone's end.

2) Midwestern also sending me multiple letters inviting me to apply, then mailing me a fatty letter packet politely rejecting me without an interview. Then emailing me inviting me to apply to their undergrad program. I didn't even know schools send out rejection letters, seems like a lot of work to say no to someone.

Hahaha sorry but these actually made me laugh out loud a little bit.

I got an email from GWU encouraging me to apply for the Class of 2016 well after the deadline for submitting a primary to them. I also got a letter from Harvard encouraging me to apply next year despite the fact that I do not have a competitive MCAT score for them. I had to explain to my parents that the letter was not an acceptance and that it did not mean that I had a shot applying there...

That NYU email about following the adcom Twitter account should be up there. Why does an adcom even have a Twitter account?

I'll nominate my dear state school for emailing me 18 times in 2013-2014 across two email accounts (personal and university) asking that I consider applying in-state because of my "outstanding achievement on the MCAT."

I took the MCAT in 2015

I nominate Vermont, for not having looked at my application yet. That I submitted in a timely fashion. Word on the street is that they only have a few interview dates left-- refund plz?

Had a problem with them last year too lol. They didn't mark me as complete in December which was when I finally withdrew when I had all my materials in by August.

Gw rejected me but gave my info to their public health guys so they could spam my email and phone asking me if I was interested in a online mph program

Back in the day, I received an email II from CCLCM during late July. Scheduled my interview and everything. I get a call two weeks later saying that it was a glitch in their system and that no IIs had gone out.

I did eventually interview there, though.

Well Harvard doesn't update anyone on status unless it's an II or rejection in March. Their portal does not change at all all cycle if you have no II. Did you not get any decision at all from there? Disabling a portal (what's that mean anyway) sounds unlikely, I wonder if there was miscommunication here.

VCU for having a fast lane and special bus for applications based on some random assignment when I hit submit on AMCAS. I'm almost in their 90th percentile and am still waiting on a secondary after submitting in late August as I watch countless people get processed and interviewed who submit far later. Is it really that hard to review applications in the order they are received?
Does VCU screen before secondaries? If so, how are you so sure you haven't been reviewed? Being 90th percentile doesn't mean jack ****, you can still be rejected for any one of 50 reasons. Maybe the people who submitted far later are just better than you.

If they don't screen then you should've asked them way long ago why you don't have a secondary yet.

I vote all of the carribean schools and the 20 emails I recieved this cycle that I thought were actual interview invitations from US schools. Instead they were just inviting me to apply and then attend their interviews at the nearest locations. Luckily, I had SDN to educate me on the perils of such bad choices.

I hate to break this to you dude, but it looks like your score was rigged. Your state school was in cahoots with the AAMC and they slipped up.

Take notes people, THE MCAT IS A SHAM

I'm in the same boat: my primary was verified mid-August and I have yet to hear back, rejection or secondary. They pride themselves on their holistic screening process, but as an admissions office assistant relayed to me yesterday, "it's taking longer than anticipated because it's tedious to go through 10,000 applications."

^ actually what they told me.

Another vote for Rush's out of the blue service requirement.

"As stated in our secondary invitation, you must have blah blah blah required hours minimum"

I spent nearly 45 minutes analyzing their secondary invite email and their website for this information. Nothing. Then another 10-15 minutes trying to choose my words carefully in an email detailing why this out of nowhere requirement was disrespectful to applicants.

In hindsight, I wasted an hour of my time on a school I no longer had interest in.

GG Rush. Well played.

I would go as far as to say even your personal and athletic achievements are not your own doing. Wake up and smell the TRUTH.

It's true, when I opened my eyes and finally looked around one of my classes I realized all of the other students were dogs. I had been at a dog training academy the whole time.

Solid GPA tho.

I nominate Washington University in St. Louis who sent me a letter to apply to their school in March 2015. I was not going to apply because my MCAT score was not high, and I do not like St. Louis.

They then sent me another mail in April/May stating that my MCAT score was not high enough, and they made a mistake. They further told me to not apply to their school this cycle, and for some reason the MCAT score they received was higher than it actually was.

Couldn't they just let me be, lol. I was not going to apply to their school, even if I got a high MCAT.

Lol jk this beats the tuition bill, this is hilarious. Might as well have sent you a letter saying "loljk also **** you" immediately after the first letter.

Not even a troll, that's straight savage.

I've not heard anything from this school since I applied, been complete since July. Should I send them an email asking if they're going to give me an II or if they don't plan to, just reject me so I'm not waiting for something that'll never come?
