So I have seen many posts asking for advice/tips/techniques on studying.

I guess it all depends on the classes currently being taken, correct?

As I will be starting my pre-reqs in the coming semester and many are still undertaking them, why not get advice from the people who have already gone through this path and did great?

What were your studying methods for the following classes and what tips/advice you can give us to succeed?

Biology 1/2:

Chemistry 1/2:

Physics 1/2:

O Chem 1/2:

Biochemistry/Genetics:

Math:

I believe this thread can have the potential of becoming a sticky since its focused on specific courses.

Again, thanks for the advice.

Eddie 👍

Chemistry: Just read the chapter and go over the lecture notes until you understand the concept. Almost 90% of the material presented in chemistry is concept driven. Also, its recommended to do the end of chapter problems to gel the concepts in your brain.

Biology: Take notes, make a study guide for each chapter that is a combination of lecture notes and book notes. Read these notes over and over until you know the stuff like the back of your hand.

I definitely need some advice studying for chemistry, it's kicking my azz

Do as he says and DEFINITELY NOT as he does...LOL

Orgo/Phys/Chem = practice problems after practice problems
Bio = memorization. I like to make charts to compare things, helps me memorize stuff.

Chemistry 1/2: Read the Chapter and do the text problems. Nothing major.

Physics 1/2: Again, read the chapter to make sure you understand the concepts, but for studying for tests, just do problems... alot of them... ALOT

O Chem 1/2: I'm taking this right now, but what i find helpful is to make molecular models to understand structure and all. I also make alot of use of flash cards. Oh and definitely do all of the problems you professor assigns.. AND DON'T FALL BEHIND ON MATERIAL.. IT REALLY SUCKS.. [also read text before going to lecture]

Math: Don't even read the book... just skip straight to the worked examples and then do all the problems you can.
