Woohoo first post on here...

I am currently going into my senior year of college and have a low GPA at about 2.8 and a high MCAT 36Q. Obviously, my efforts and focus were not in the right place my first two years of college, 😳 but I have made a recovery with a 3.16 and a 3.52 in my last two semesters junior year. My question now is not so much "what are my chances" ...but more to "should I apply this year with low chances of acceptance instead of waiting until I have graduated, at which point I should have over a 3.2 cum. and a similar science GPA as opposed to now with about a 2.8?

Hopefully, my MCAT and recent increase in GPA will help my cause.
Any comments/help would be thoroughly appreciated!!🙂

Edit : O yes, I almost forgot...my college holds a reputation within its area. Our science classes are supposedly more difficult than that at the average college by leaps and bounds. Do with this information what you will.

I believe it was because I relied on my natural ability to carry me through college like it did high school.

Obviously, it doesn't work like that. But it still helps with standardized tests.

Most schools have the 3.0 cutoffs, even with the high MCAT score some of them wouldn't look at your application. If you have $$$, I'd say you should test the water n try ur luck this year. If not, you should do extremely well your senior year and then apply. You'll def. get in some Allo n DO schools with the new stats, excellent LORs and good ECs.

Good luck!

2.8 is quite impossible for MD schools, even with a 45T MCAT.🙁

You don´t have chance at MD schools this year. You need another solid year of high performance (better than a 3.7 each semester, IMO) to help overshadow your underperforming years and show adcomms you can survive a med school environment. Great MCAT score BTW.

This is what I assumed, and I'm okay with that.

But that aside, what do I do in my year off? And what search should I type for threads similar (that would answer that Q) on here?

Search for : ??????

You'll see more on that in the pre-allo forum. For searching, use "glide year".
