Has anyone out there interviewed with UT Memphis? If so what sort of ?'s did they ask, what was the stress level, was it easy to find, etc... My interview is in about two weeks.  😀 😀 Any general comments would appreciated also. Thanks!

Hey there!

Unfortunately, I'm not far enough along in the process to have even applied anywhere, so I can't help you out in the experience department. I do live in Memphis, however, so if you need directions or anything of that nature, just let me know.

Congrats on the interview!

Mison,
I just got done with interviews at UT Memphis. Because I am from UTK, my interviews were split up with 1 at Memphis and 1 a week later in Knoxville. Overall, the stress level is very low. Inter view day in Memphis consists of an informal overview, and 1 interview in the morning. I then sat in on a class. After a tour, lunch and then a second interview is scheduled for people who have both of them there. The interviews are divided up into Alpha and Beta interviews. The Alpha interview focuses on academics and the Beta focuses on personality. But both interviews were low stress. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks DaDa that does help. 🙂 What do you think your chances of getting in are? Did you like the school and Memphis? Another poster in the Allo forum said they are filling up their waitlist right now. Do have any knowledge or opinion of this?

Mison,
While I'm not sure, talking with the Dean of admissions, I got the impression that they are still accepting people. They told us that they did not start interviewing until late October. The school was nice. They take you on a long tour so wear comfortable shoes. We had several women in heels in our group and after an hour of touring, I don't see how they could stand it. The strength of the school is with clinical exposure and unfortunately, in order to have lots of it, the school is located in what could nicely be termed not the best part of town. The school itself seems compact and safe. I did like the school. The students seem very non-competative w/ one another and the admissions staff is genuinely nice. Have you recieved your packet of info telling who you interview with?

I got my packet a few days ago. I interview with Lisa Kyle Jennings, PhD first then with John P. Nash, MD (i hope he is taking his medication, I thought he worked at Princeton, ha ha ha ha). Is the school not in the middle of the downtown area? I have been to Memphis a number of times but I am not sure if I have been near the school. So you went/go to UTK? Where else have you applied/interviewed?

Mison,
Yes, I go to UTK and and a Tennessee resident. To give you and idea of how random this process is, I interviewed at ETSU in Sept and was wait-listed, I intervieved at University of Louisville in Dec and was accepted and finally interviewed at Memphis. I will find out what they decide next week. The committee meets every Friday and mails decisions out then. I am still waiting to hear back from other schools i.e UVA and UNC, but am not holding out too much hope. I will let you know what UT decides this week when I get my decision. I was curious as to who your interviewer's were in case we had the same people but no luck.
