I was wondering what you guys thought about taking 2 nbme's back to back.

People at my school really recommend it. I can see how it can simulate the stamina needed for the real thing, but it would also be hard to do anything productive the rest of the day after a back-to-back.

Particularly in my case of having less than a week until the big show.

I've gotten a similar recommendation as well. So far I've done two NBME's (one at the beginning of my studying, and one last Saturday) and I've taken a school administered NBME.

I agree I don't want to do 2 back to back because then when do I get a chance to look at them. I am less than 2 weeks out, but at the end of this week I'm going to try an NBME + the free 150 Questions.

Besides, a practice exam is 200 questions (50 question blocks given 65 minutes). That is approximately 4.5 hours given you take any breaks between those 4 sections. If you take 2 back-to-back that would be the equivalent of 9 hours of questions. That is 2 hours longer than the actual Step 1 exam which is 7 hours of questions + 1 hour of break time.

Let's just say, when you and all of your buddies get your scores back, no one is will EVER say "I did better than x cause I had more endurance"

I would think if you are able to do 4 hours of a practice NBME and then spend the next 5-6 hours studying that day, then you have enough stamina to finish the test. Besides, gameday is gonna give you a boost that will allow you to get through more than you might be used to. Not that I think it is a terrible idea to do, I just don't know how necessary it is.

I'm an advocate, especially once you're past your target score.
