I had everything submitted by the last week of June. But my application is still in the process of being verified. Is this normal? How long does it usually take AMCAS? Is it just abnormally slower this year?

Where are y'all in the application process? And how long did it take for your primary application to be verified?

Good luck to everyone!

When did you have your school send in your transcript? I accidentally sent mine to AMCAS back in February, and it took about 1.5 weeks between talking to my school and getting a confirmation of transcript receipt from AMCAS. I re-did that process again in April and it took until the beginning of June to get the receipt email, probably because volume had increased so heavily at AMCAS. Your verification could be held up if you didn't send the transcript until late May or June.

That's the only reason I can think of that a June primary submission wouldn't be processed by now, unless they have your transcript and are making a lot of corrections. My primary went in on the 10th of June and only took 14 days to be verified.

I believe my transcripts were processed around May... And it says "Received" for the transcript as well as the committee letter. I guess it's because I sent it in sort of late....

Did AMCAS send you a receipt email...?

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, they sent me an email called "AMCAS Transcript Receipt Notification," and then I got another email, "AMCAS Notification: Your application is Processed" about 14 days later. All told, it took about 30 days to go from the "we just got your transcript" to the "we just sent your application to medical schools" stage.

I guess it's possible that they're just going reaaally slow. I'm beginning to think that delays of one or two days on applicants' ends translate into one or two weeks of delays on AAMC's end. Maybe prewrite your secondaries in the meantime so you can send them right out?

Hopefully someone else with a late June submission of the primary can weigh in as well.

AMCAS is only up to June 22 so you should be verified soon. Don't they guarantee that it'll take no more than 6 weeks?

For people who submitted after June 11th it's been taking about 30 days to get verified. I submitted on June 19th at 1:30 am and it took me exactly 30 days to get verified, for example. AMCAS is just really slow this year.

Best use this time to pre-write. I did that and I'm still overwhelmed by secondaries, mostly because I'm MD/PhD and the MD/PhD secondaries are much worse than the MD ones (although to be fair the reason I'm still overwhelmed is because when I pre-wrote I didn't realize that when MD/PhD secondaries ask for "career goals" what they're really asking for is a PhD personal statement, and when they ask for "research interests" it's another "why this school?" essay).

Waiting for verification is the least stressful wait, because you know it will happen eventually.

You've got to relax, otherwise you'll turn in a nervous wreck waiting for interviews, then acceptances, news about your position on the wait list, etc.

The wait lasts until you get accepted to your top choice, which could literally be a year from today

just prewrite everything to maximize your chances, depending on how far back in june you submitted youre looking at this upcoming week or the week after to get verified. if you submit your secondaries right away youll be in just fine shape. then the real waiting happens

but i know what you mean, i was one of the june 22nd submissions, just got verified yesterday (although no secondaries yet really cause its not a business day yet)

331 days between submission of my primary and acceptance at the school I'm going to. Take a chill pill, OP. It could be a while.

I'm applying to a few md/phd schools as well. Thanks for pointing out what those prompts meant!

hah, a year from now when you are still waiting to hear back from schools tell me how hard the wait is

340+ days here. It was pretty nerve wracking. Submitted June 5 (first day last year) too.

Also realized just how appropriate my username was XD It could be a really long wait.

425 days here... (14 months)....until i was rejected from the wait list 🙁

EDIT: It's not all bad! That was 2 cycles ago... I'm reapplying now and am hoping for different results!

That car parked way out in the walmart parking lot at night? Yeah he can help you out.

The guy with the blue hoodie and the gold front tooth right?

I've been prescribed xanax before, it can be a life saver for public speaking.
