At the end of second year, I got a new car. Jeep Liberty 2010.

2004 Ford Taurus. Plan to drive it into the ground. Hopefully it makes it the next 4 years through residency... I just put a new transmission in it ~6 months ago, so we'll see.

2006 honda civic. Got it before I started medical school and plan on keeping it at least through residency and fellowship (if I do the fellowship thing).

2009 Jetta SE... but I am an exception to the "hot chicks drive Jettas" rule, cause I am neither hot nor a chick...

1999 Acura TL with a lot of miles and a lot of problems, but it still runs. Gotta replace the wife's car first.

1989 BMW 325i 2-dr Alpine White II 5-spd.. dream car, every day I love it just a little bit more. everywhere I go I end up with a smile on my face, looking forward to the drive home.

1997 Nissan Maxima. That's our new car. We have a 1993 Chevy K1500 pick up too. And yes, we've actually had them that long. Someday I'll be making a reasonable salary (read: more than a resident's salary to support a family of four) and I'll get another 4WD car that is good in snow.

My daughter is rebuilding a 1970 VW bug for her car. We got that one as a junker.

1997 Passat TDI. Worst piece of junk I've ever owned. I rebuilt/repaired/revised and generally spent more on it than I did buying it (used). It died. I resurrected my trusty and rusty 1983 Toyota Camry, put new tires on it, changed the oil and I proudly drove the old rust bucket and parked it right in the physician lot. Next to an attending's shiny black Benz. Best day of my life when a guard came running out and yelled that I couldn't park there in that old reliable junker that never gave me a single second of trouble, because "this lot is reserved for doctors." I showed him my ID and life was good. I replaced it with a Honda Civic when I got my real job, but only because it had 350k miles on it and the chassis was rusting out. I put a license plate on the front that read, "If you buy a VW Keep your old car." superimposed on a wrecker towing away a VW.

2011 Subaru Forester, which I got right before I started residency. With the amount of driving I do, I could probably keep it until I retire. I have all of 2100 miles on it after a year. Would have been like half that much if I hadn't had to drive back and forth out to the boonies for a community rotation month. 😛

going to be the same 4runner i have driven for years

I had a 1988 325i coupe in gray. Awesome car. Love the way it drives and the old school look.

Same car I had since MS-1 (and still have in fellowship).

1998 Honda Accord Coupe.

Picture me rollin'
I had a 98 Honda accord coupe. Great car. It had some kind of computer problem that no one could figure out, or I would still be driving it today. Currently driving an Acura, but will probably go back to a Honda accord.

1998 Toyota Camry. Got it used in undergrad (had about 40K on it). Drove it through med school, residency and now in fellowship. It has to last me at least 6-12 more months until I get on my feet as an attending. Hasn't let me down yet.

2011 honda insight.
bought new in march 2011 now just a year later 20K + miles

I'm getting a 2012 Kia Sportage, 5 yr warranty, above average reliability, good resale

2012 Infiniti G37. God bless 4th year of med school. Plenty of time to play poker and make moneys like the old days.

I had a 1996 Nissan Maxima w/320,000 miles (yep, that's right, 320,000 miles!). I had it for five years and only had to change the battery and the alternator, and of course the oil. Anyhow, the darned check engine light wouldn't go off (due only to two faulty oxygen sensors), and as a result, the car wouldnt pass the NYS emissions test. So, I sold it.

If it werent for the expensive senors, I'd still be with my oldie.

But, as of 2 months ago, I have a brand new Honda Civic.
This one will stay with me until the wheels fall off 🙂.

'03 Hyundai Sonata. Survived a 60mph spin out in snow with only superficial damage to the body and none to me. Still drives like a champ, but looks like Rocky at the end of his movies. So I'm crying because my wife is making me get rid of it as soon as I'm done with residency.

Pre med 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8 my baby ;D

Until recently, I was driving the 1999 Ford Taurus, with 65,000 miles, which I purchased in 2007 (during MS2) with 27,000 miles. My previous vehicle was a 1998 Ford Escort with 110,000 miles which was stolen and crashed into a parked car during a high-speed chase (and totaled).

Due to a family situation where my mother needed a car and wasn't in a position to buy one outright or finance one herself, I've sold her the Taurus and purchased a 2007 Mazda 3 with 80,000 miles for myself. Fingers crossed it lasts through residency! At least the gas mileage is better than the Taurus...

Mazda's definitely last!

My moms protege (same chassy/engine as the 3), lasted for about 225K miles with below avg maintenance and fuel costs. Unfortunately it got stolen and totaled. 🙄

'88 Honda Civic sedan for most of residency until it got totaled by an idiot who decided to do a U turn on a small neighborhood road in front of me. Had it from my first year of medical school, though it went on loan to my mother for a period of time before getting it back. We also had a 1992 Olds 88 that my inlaws picked up for us.

Now that I'm making the big bucks I'm rollin' in a 2000 Accord.

I had a yellow Gallardo which I bought real cheap from one of the attendings that was retiring. I ended up selling it 4 years later for more than I paid. Fun car. Basically an audi engine.
