Theophylline formulations

Anyone know the difference among the formulations? I had a patient on Theophyline 200mg Capsules ER 24hr, but this time MD prescribed Theophylline 200mg Tablets CR. I am pretty sure they're not the same and had the patient follow up with the MD. I don't see any concrete information on the exact difference, 1 source did say that the Theophylline 200mg Tablets CR is a 12 hour release formulation. But who knows, all these ER, CR, XR, SR, DR, XL, etc formulations are very arbitary.

ER is 24 hour and CR is 12 hour. So says Lexi Comp. worth a call to the MD before dispensing, IMO.
