I go to URI and there are including me 5 people who will apply. Now my question is this. I posted before that I had a 3.1 gpa BEFORE my 4.0 in the next semester. But what im scared about is that 2 of those ppl have like a 3.8 and if I apply to the same schools they apply, will they not even consider my app if say, I end with a 3.5 and they end with a 3.8? I know some ppl are going to say, DATs but the fact of the matter is, DATs are nothing compared to GPA, nothing at all. So am I screwed because our advisor MAKES every dent apply to more than 10 schools so that means i may have a high chance of applying to the ones they are too. anyone?

There is more to an application then GPA, also a 3.5 compared to a 3.8...the thing is there both good GPA's. I think you will be fine. I'm surprised only 5 people are applying from your school at the same time. If you think 5 applicants are going to ruin your chances you should see what it's like to have 65-80 applicants, which is how many are applying at my school this cycle. I don't go to BYU but I heard they have close to like 300 applicants applying at the same time. Just be a good applicant all around and don't let you GPA be the only thing you have going for you. Good luck!

I dunno where you get that idea, but the DATs are HUGE.....of course its not all about the numbers, but i think its safe to say the DAT is at least as important as GPA, if not more...

Example: A girl had 20 DATS and a 3.3 GPA and got rejected from all her schools twice (cycles).

Another example, guy(me) with 3.3 and 21DAT got accepted to 4 schools on first try. And, nrlees stats are in the same range you talking about with 22 DAT. GPA is not everything, but it sure helps a lot. Another thing, numbers are not everything but you need atleast decent so you can get your foot in the door.

Exactly, like i said, numbers arent everything. But with a 3.3 and 20DAT, she had to get in SOMEWHERE...and if not then its something else (extracirrics, dental experience, crappy LORs or personal statement, lacking interpersonal skills, etc)..heck i got in multiple places and those stats are very similar to mine.

This is definitely true.

i think it's defintiely untrue! i got 18s on my DATs and got into a lot of top programs! your GPA is 4 years, your DAT is 4 hours...

i'm confused how you're confused 😕

Dont worry about the other people,

This year from my school, about 8 people applied to d-school and all got at least 2-3 acceptances and most got their first choice. Just do your best and good things will come. Stressing out about other's scores wont help you any. Good luck!
