Hi everyone!!
I am an extremely worried applicant. Don't worry, I've already appplied and sent in all but 3 secondaries (total of 10 received). I am really worried about getting an interview/acceptance!! Here is my profile: (I'm ashamed...so sssshhhh don't tell anyone else. 🙂 ) 27 MCAT, 3.40 GPA, and I go to a well-reputed liberal arts college. I have plenty of medical experience (don't get me wrong...you can never have too much.) and I am well-involved in my school. Will anyone want to interview/accept me?? If you kind readers could take a minute out of your busy days to speculate upon this question, I would be so grateful toward you. Have a great night!!

Sincerely,
I hate this process so much I really don't want to have to repeat it again.

Hey Med School Apprehension,

I am in a similar situation to yours, but I think you have to put down some more cards on the table before you can get a realistic answer. When your MCAT's are below 30, the breakdown becomes very important. In addition, since your GPA is a little under the avg. it really depends on the established trends in your college performance as well as the courses you took. Premeds are notorious for padding their GPA's with cake classes and then wondering why they didn't get in. Med school is not one of those things you can slide by on, so they are certainly going to pick up on that.

In addition, your state of residency plays such a huge role. Unfortunately and fortunately I am from Calif--some of the best and cheapest schools, but also some of the hardest to get into--so you should also consider that as you look at things.

Finally, you have to also evaluate when you applied--I am reapplying this year because last year when I applied in Oct, I was so late to be competitive given my subpar numbers--June 1 is the dealine in my book not the first day.

Hope this helps, but if you are willing to share a little more I think this forum will be a of more help to you. Best of luck--believe in yourself!!!

I think that you have a good chance. THe determining factor for you will probably be your letters of rec and work experience.
