Hey everyone, I searched the forum for anything relating to this topic, but I still did not see what I was looking for. I am wondering how well we have to understand Thin-Film Interference. Should I know the equations?
I have an understanding of the concept of phase shifts at the boundary between one medium and an optically denser medium which can lead to destructive interference in the case of air on oil on water, but I can't figure out how thickness affects this or what kind of questions I could possibly get. I've read the Berkeley Review explanation of this and ended up in the fetal position in the corner of my bedroom with my thumb in my mouth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
