Things needed for applying to vet school??

What's a short list of what's normally required to apply to vet school?

So far I have:

• GRE score
• Transcript---September 1
• eLORs
• VMCAS Application---October 2
• Personal statement

Is there anything missing from my list??
ALSO, what are the general deadlines for sending all of these in? I know the transcript & VMCAS application have dates in early September & October. But what about the other things?

All five of those things are due on October 2nd, though it is suggested that you turn things in a week or two before that deadline in case the server crashes. Additionally, many schools require supplemental applications and those deadlines vary according to the school. Thank you! I've definitely been keeping in mind the "turn stuff in early" concept--I've always been that way, but with this...I'd much rather just get it in and over with as soon as possible haha!

Deadlines for GRE scores vary by school as well. I think most want them by October 2nd, but some have deadlines as late as January or February for receiving your scores. A lot of schools will have a checklist on their website of what's needed to apply. And keep in mind most supplemental apps, and definitely VMCAS, also include fees!

Out of curiosity, are you planning on applying for this current cycle? If so, it's a bit late in the game to be just now figuring this stuff out. Not TOO late, but I'd be freaking out if I were you! If you're just getting info for the future through, never mind. 🙂

I think VMCAS recommends getting your app submitted 4 weeks early, not a week or two. They suggest September 2nd (for the app + transcripts + PS + GRE scores + at least 1 eLOR) because of the transcript verification thing.

Some schools don't use the VMCAS application and have their own application with their own deadlines.

I've heard others say similar things, and that was the first year VMCAS did transcript verification, so if anything this year they should be even more efficient. True. I was just mentioning the recommended date, because I'm pretty sure that last year some people didn't get theirs verified until after the October 2nd deadline. But I don't know the full story - maybe those people had mistakes in their coursework section and had to resubmit, who knows.

Oh goodness, no! That would be horrible! Although I'm an incoming senior this year, I've got another Fall semester to finish up, so I'll start the application process NEXT fall. 🙂
