I am currently a third year medical student and researching ob/gyn programs for the 2005 match.

what are some of the things which I need to note when generating my list of programs to apply? you know, when you think to yourself "I wish I knew that before I flew out here"

also, as a FMG, approx. how many programs in ob/gyn should I apply to?

thanks

Check out Iserson's Guide for Residency. He addresses the selection issues, has a great area for IMGs, and also provides charts and material for selecting programs that suit your preferences.

Hi,

I'm also a 3rd year planning to apply for ob-gyn residencies next year. Where did those of you that are matching this year get your information about the different programs? Did you mostly get your info from word of mouth about the "personalities" of different programs? I know it's early yet, but thinking about picking how many/which programs to apply to seems overwhelming.

Kem,

Speaking for myself and classmates:

1. Pick geographic locations
2. Tally a list of programs (comm and univ)
3. Start asking around about the programs
4. Do further research through various resources (APGO, Scutwork, FRIEDA, etc.)

Good Luck
