I was just thinking back on when I was first applying to schools and how differently I see things now. After reading people's posts, talking to people at interviews, and visiting schools, I definitely wish I could change my list of schools that I applied to back in June (I would have applied to CCOM and PCOM and definitely not NYCOM or TUCOM). I also wish that I had not wasted my time and money applying to the MD programs. Does anyone feel the same way? What would you do differently about applying to schools if you had it to do over?

I would of applied to more schools. Specifically schools on the east coast (NYCOM, PCOM) and CCOM. After reading/hearing so many good things about these programs, i would of wanted to see it firsthand.
By the way, Kat, i know you were having a tough time deciding between COMP and MSUCOM. Have you decided? Just Curious. Both are tremendous schools. I don't think you could go wrong.

If I were to do this process over again, I would have not applied to so many MD schools, if any. But, I would not change the DO schools I applied to even though I have not heard from a couple. I actually never thought I would like PCOM so much, and it's funny because I was not going to apply there at first.
However, it is hard to tell what schools you should have or should have not applied to until after the application process is over. Because we did not get accepted at certain schools we say we should have not applied there but in reality, there is no way to know unless you apply.
But very true, you learn more about schools during the actual application process...if I would have learned this much before I applied, it definitely would have changed my list.

Maybe I am reading too much into your past, and it is perfectly fair for you to have wished you didnt apply to this school or that school, but in my opinion, your post is basically being disrespectful to those who have chosen to go to NYCOM and TUCOM. I am sure there are people that go to those two institutions who would probably defend you, nonetheless I think it would be most advantageous for all of us (and all of our egos) if we respect the fact that everyone has specific loyalties and such...

I am so sorry to have offended you, but you definitely read too much into my post. I was just making a comment about what I would have done differently in the application process if I did it again, and after visiting TUCOM (which I though was a good school, it definitely was advertising respectable statistics), I realized that it was not the school for me. I was accepted to TUCOM, and even thought about attending school, it just wasn't right. I have read things that you have written about TUCOM, and was impressed by how much you knew about their program and how enthused you were about the school. I wish I were that way about the schools I am deciding on, even after my visits I still don't feel I know for sure where I want to be. I was not trying to say anything about the people who do choose to go there, or any school for that matter. I am very impressed by anyone who gets accepted to any medical school. I just think that it is ironic that if you knew at the begining what you knew at the end of the process, things might be different, thats all.

I think you might be reading too much into it ez.
I kinda wish I would have been a bit smarter with what schools I did apply too. Like Nova or DMU or KCOM instead of PCSOM because they put so much importance on gathering people from the area. Not bothering to apply to CCOM because I didn't meet the min requirements initially. And starting everything earlier in the cycle. Small things like that. Id still apply to NYCOM even though all I got from them was attitude. Its more research into each individual schools about what they are looking for and what not to see what matches up better with you.

Yup.
Your impressive enthusiasm for TUCOM is coloring your interpretation of what kat13 wrote. I saw no disrespect to people choosing TUCOM or NYCOM in her post.
I applaud your excitement for the school, but you could be more tolerant of people who don't share it.
