Hi there, I am new here. 🙂. I am P1.

I just start pharmacy school. I don't have much work experience so I really have a hard time to find job. Long story short, I end up in an independent community. The workload is really heavy, plus I don't get a chance to see the customer. I work in a dispensing room. All I do right now is just dispensing. I think about quitting the job. But I just started it recently.

I am thinking about working there maybe 3 -6 months to see if the situation change. Learn new stuff, etc. Then I think in April I look for job in retail and quit the job. What do you guys think.

Input please.

Thanks

Stay where you are, learn as much as you can. Look for a better opportunity. When you leave, give appropriate notice and thank them for the chance to experience pharmacy.

Thank you so much for the advise🙂. It's just that I don't see myself hired there after I graduated from pharmacy school. They need techs not pharmacist. It's awful expensive to hire me at 50$/hour to count pills. I am thinking about applying for jobs for the summer in spring, maybe like in April. Do you know should I apply sooner?

I think I can stand the stress of retails as long as I have human contact with the customer.

Jobs are scarce. You should apply everywhere and see what develops....

Ive worked at 4 different pharmacies in the 6 years or so since graduation. It seemed like i was always looking for that greener pasture. I finally came to the conclusion that all of retail is the same. find a place with good a good boss you enjoy working for, find good benefits and then sit tight... get invested in your company's 401k etc... I have no experience in hospital so i cant really comment there. like the other poster said just learn what you can now.

this independent pharmacy is using and abusing you until u leave.......

they know u will not work there after graduation.........and after u leave, they will look for the next "intern"

if the workload is that heavy and giving you stress, then there is no reason to continue working there while attending classes

there are PLENTY of other jobs out there in retail.....they may not be hiring now, but after you go on a couple rotations, your preceptor may ask u to come aboard......

if u are looking for that patient interaction, instead of filling all shift in a "dispensing room", then i suggest you work at a low volume store......
