Hi Guys,

So I'm planning to apply for admission in 2013, but haven't written the DAT yet. I am a canadian and planning to write the american DAT early december for admission to american dental schools. My cGPA is a 3.68/4 and science GPA is 3.59/4. Is it very late to apply assuming I do well on the DAT for admission in September 2013?

Yes, it is very late to apply. Also, by then you would've passed a lot of the school's deadlines. You should apply early for next cycle. You have very good stats, and I'm sure you will get into a school of your choice next year rather than this year.

Bluesprite is correct. To apply for 2013 you had to apply a few months ago to have a good chance. Where you haven't taken your DAT yet, that pretty much rules out this cycle (it takes a couple additional weeks for scores to be verified and sent). I'd take the DAT this coming Spring, and apply in summer of 2013 for admission in Fall of 2014. This is of course assuming that all of your other things are in order, such as pre-requisites, shadowing, letters of rec, etc.

Save your money and apply next year. From personal experience as a Canadian who applied late last year, I can tell you that most schools will not even look at your file.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses! Money isn't really an issue at the moment, and I don't mind studying for the DAT right now. I also don't care what school I go to to be honest. What about UD Mercy (thinking about this mainly because its close to home) and their deadline is February. Are the chances slim here to?

Just worry about DAT first, then figure out if you still a competitive candidate for admission...just apply next cycle, right around the corner..
