I'm finishing up my 5th semester of undergrad as a kinesiology major at Penn State. I came into college with the intent of going to medical school (DO). I'll be finished with my pre-reqs at the end of my 6th semester (only have Ochem II left to take). I have a strong passion for medicine, helping others, and the whole medical field. Recently, I started looking at pharmacy and am very intrigued by it. So, I have a few questions. I did poorly in gen. chem II and ended up with a D, but then retook it and got an A. I know DO schools calculate science GPA using the highest grade, so the A would count. Does PharmCAS do the same? Also, what kind of extracurriculars do pharmacy schools look at as important? Research, shadowing, working in a pharmacy? This whole time in my undergrad, I've been focused on med school, so I've shadowed doctors and have done some research, but nothing pharmacy related so to say. Thanks in advance!

PharmCAS averages the two grades. As for extracurriculars, the more the better! Research, shadowing, and working in a pharmacy are all good. Some schools require pharmacy experience, but many do not. Having some health care experience (even if it is not pharmacy-related) can only help you.
