I am considering a change in specialty. I was really undecided during medical school and probably should have taken a year off, but I ended up picking internal medicine because it had the most options. I actually applied to a couple specialties, but withdrew my application early from one.
Here is what I want to know:
1. Is the process of application the same? Do I go through ERAS? If so, do I still get all the stuff (token, etc) through my medical school?
2. When is the appropriate time to inform my program?? I don't want to burn any bridges, so I was thinking of putting it off till match day or at least till some interviews come in??
3. Is this a common thing to do?? How is it viewed by programs when you apply from another program??
Thanks
