What is the role of the third year?

I'm guessing retractor beaaaacchh or changing the radio station.

Your job is to win surgery, and to definitely get more points than the visiting students. Placing frogs in their surgeon caps and/or booties is a good way to get ahead. You can also go with the "accidental" slip that manages to make them rescrub.

Alternately, you can leave them be and just scrub into different surgeries. That'll show em!

What is the role of the third year?

to do what the residents and attendings ask, and to learn as much as possible. the visiting 4th years may be given a little more responsibility but it shouldn't affect you much.
