This is NOT a "best DO schools" thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't post much but to lurk a lot, and I agree that DocEspana seems to contribute a lot of information. I also think that you weren't just making a one time joke in this thread and continue to perpetuate the idea that WVSOM is lacking in quality and not to be taken seriously whenever the school is brought up, hence why I didn't interpret your post as a joke. So, that's the problem. If you joke about it that much, you've pretty much made it your truth and are misleading a bunch of people.

Does anyone else remember a thread (was started a while back) where DO students were reviewing their schools? I recall it being very helpful for me when I was choosing DO schools to apply to.

It went something like this:

COM

Curriculum: A-
Location: B
Tuition: C+
Cafeteria food: A
Rotation sites: A-
...etc

Overall grade: A

Can someone post that up for the OP. Can't seem to find it.

Edit: nvm. Here it is http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=407104

Some of this will definitely be outdated.

You're killing me here. I read your post and was like , I know which one she is talking about. After HOURS of searching (alright, maybe not hours) I finally found it and YOU posted in it already!

I was thinking about starting a new "Rate Your Osteopathic School" thread and organizing all of the reviews in the first post, but I don't anyone would respond with my lowly pre-med status .

That's an amazing idea, HD! I really liked the old thread but it's A LOT to sift through. Would be much more helpful if it was better organized.

then my apologies

And to the other person. Yea, thats what the 125th street side of the school looks like. The stores on the ground are different though, cause that pics prob about 4 years old, but the building is still the same.

then my apologies

You did come on real strong. Just be nicer to schools if you're supposed to represent them. Its hard to tell whats joking and whats dead serious online.

In your defense. I pretty much only lurk and I've read comments going back years for all the schools. People have been ripping on WVSOM for much longer than youve been on this site. You just picked up on it and are visible in the last few threads so you get blamed as if you are creating this. But you're definitely right when you say a lot of people have used it as a punch line before you. Going by the comments on some of the older threads. Still. Don't perpetuate for lols. back to being stealth for me. :ninja:

i just wanted to see what tourocom looks like and i found this photo...is this an old depiction or recent? is this touro college or the med school itself?

I'm starting this year at Western University (COMP) so please take my vote for Western with a grain of salt. That being said, I got in to 5 schools and cancelled several interviews after getting my Western acceptance. Objectively speaking, for competitive west coast residencies, I think it is the best DO school out there, which is why I chose it. The rotation sites are awesome and you rotate with UC Riverside, UC Irvine, and Loma Linda students at some major academic centers. All students I spoke to, even those posting anonymously on this forum, are very happy.

To the person who was asking about "fit" as being selection criteria --this is a perfect example of where "fit" plays a role. I chose Western for the same reasons. I value location (I'd like to establish my career in Southern CA), quality of rotations, board scores, and the school's reputation with residency programs in the area. It was also important to me to attend a school that has a free clinic and/or quality clinical opportunities during preclinical years. Not everyone shares these values. Therefore, go with whatever school "fits" with what you value and what your personal career goals are.
