So the AADSAS page has that little advisory up:

"Please be advised that the 2008 AADSAS Application Cycle will close on February 1, 2008. Please be advised that AADSAS must receive all transcripts and Letters of Evaluation by February 15, 2008."

This indicates that this cycle is coming to an end soon. So for me, its waitlists and no acceptances yet. I guess I better start prepping for the future.

This is extremely depressing and I am going in mourning phase +pity+

I'm so glad that studentdoctor.net is here. I feel like I'm part of a support group. For the most part - everyone is so positive here. It's unique to find a group of people like us. We're all going through the same thing for the most part. We share an intimate bond of dread and dreams 🙄

I'm on the brink of mourning too. Don't give up!

never give up hope! The waitlist movement is probably just beginning! Theres still time for you to get that acceptance! All you need is one👍👍

Thanks so much y'all!!! This forum is definitely an amazing support group. I agree with you on that one, SuiteGirl.

Just waiting to hear from my waitlisted places. I do just need one acceptance. PLEASE GOD, ACCEPTANCE Letter FOR Dental school starting in 2008!!!!!

If I met anyone of you sweet people- I would give you a hug!!!:biglove:

Hey guys!
I interviewed at my first school last week and have 2 more interviews coming up the first week of February. Is there any hope of getting an acceptance out of any of those schools at this later date or is it pretty much waitlist or rejection? Thanks and good luck!🙂

I think there is definitely a chance that they will take you,, why would the interview you if they dont think you have a chance,,it costs them money,, plus I think if you do well on the interview that must rank you better than others who dont do as well,,, finally it is not for sure that you are behind the waitlistees, you might be ahead,, that is you might get an acceptance before they do or you may be put in the wiatlis like they did or you may get rejected
i think you have good chances with three interviews,
good luck,,,

I dont have any interviews 🙁 .....yet:idea:

Thanks teebow, I appreciate your help. Best of luck to you🙂

Have faith guys n gals... All is not lost... last year I didn't get any interview invites till about now (I know b/c I got one on my birthday last year n my birthday is TODAY... ahem ahem... Don't all go buy me presents at once now...) I didn't have my interviews till March... got one acceptance middle of April regular and got into Columbia off the wait list in MAY... So don't think its the end of the line just yet... There is hope... and if you're waitlisted make sure you stay up on places... Either with an email or call every other week or so... Squeaky wheel gets the oil...
Keep the faith

Happy Birthday!!! Mine was yesterday. Great month!🙂

adidas pete

at the beginning of your post I was starting to feel a little better but then when you mentioned you got into Columbia I realized you were one of them... those aliens that score 22+ on their DATs and are competitive even though they apply in december...hmmmffff,,,😡I dont like aliens,,,, no present for you

just kidding😀

well if you check predents you can see that I didn't exactly tear down the house as far as GPA... so I needed those DATs!

adidaspete ,,, why the hell did NYU reject you?
I dont understand😕😕😕😕😕

I agree with you but i think we have to prepare ourslves for plan "B" and if there is plan B, it is better we start ealier. I am already in my plan B with AA:19 TS:20, I just got one interview, Dec 3th !
good luck

Not sure if any of you are repeat applicants, but this was my third. This time of year has been very heartbreaking for me the last two years, definetly tested my perseverance. This year I decided to entirely avoid SDN because of the anxiety it caused. Just squeaked in off the waitlist this year and the feeling is.... 😀. You all appear to have great stats, keep the drive.

A little off subject - but did anyone else actually better themselves through trying to be a good applicant?

I read some mock interview questions and found that I didn't know a lot about myself: what was the last book you read? what is your favorite class? really, why dentistry? what makes you unique?

A little backwards, but I pieced these things together in order to impress these schools and have found myself to be a pretty cool person. I mean, I just never really thought about these things before - I'm just a college kid, you know?

For all interviews, whether dental related or not, the # 1 rule is:

Know Thyself!

I have question for you AddidasPete and perhaps other 2nd or 3rd timers; When did you start preparing for the next cycle? Did you guys wait until you got rejection letters from all the schools you applied? Some say 'you gotta wait at least April' and some say 'you gotta prepare for the next cycle in late Feb.'
I am working on my plan B now and I'd like to know when to start studying DAT for the next cycle-of course if things don't work out.

Hang in there guys!

There's such thing as miracles. Trust me, I know.

I think thats a little demeaning ,,so was he testing you ? or just having fun?

yea we gotta hang in there and have SOME hope and faith left guys! it's only jan 17th! some schools like BU or NYU keep interviewing till march or april!! and not all the schools are completly full yet, something has to work out! I refuse to believe its the end already, it is not! there is still time! stay strong!

This year was my 2nd time applying, and I started preparing for reapplication in April last year; although, I re-wrote the DAT in February*, so I guess I technically started to re-prepare my application then. If you have the time in April to re-write your personal statement, then there's no reason that you need to start any sooner. The only other thing that could slow your application down are the letters of rec.

*In Canada, the DAT is only available once in February and once in November, so I had no choice as to when to re-write.

I love your spirit!!! God bless us and I am still praying for more interviews and all I need is one acceptance.

Good Luck

I think you planned it right by having your DAT done by feb. I got mine done in Feb. last year too. So I reapplied this time and got interviews but alas waitlists at few schools.. waiting on more interviews/acceptance. If I have to do it all over again, I may apply right on May 15th!!! Ihave all the recommendations too and I asked them if I dont get in, please have the letters ready in envelopes so I can just attach the LOR matching form and thats it... mail it out. Hopefully I dont have to reapply cuz its a pain! I have spent well over $7000 for apps..... this was my second time applying.
