For the schools which reject you pre-secondary (or who don't send you secondaries unless they plan on having you interview), do they tell you when you are out? Or are you supposed to just assume they are not interested if you don't hear back within a reasonable timeframe. How long does it usually take them to notify you if you are given the boot?

(I'm rather pessimistic about this process in case you guys can't tell! 😎)

The only school that I got rejected from was NYCOM (I'm OOS). They never sent me any notification about a rejection, but I never got an interview invite or secondary from them, so I just assumed it was a no-go.

Schools that are reject pre-sedonary unfortunately often don't worry much about notifying you. If you haven't heard anything from a school that you're interested in, give the admissions office a call to confirm they received your application. If they have, then you can ask them on the phone what their secondary policy is.

As for NYCOM, their policy is spelled out on their web site:

Please note that NYCOM does not mail supplemental applications unless you are chosen to interview.

Good luck!

eventually you'll get something....I got a rejection letter from this one school in sep. after I already started at another school!! until all slots are filled, schools keep your app around. a MD friend of mine was called the night before school started, did the interview over the phone, packed up and drove to school the next day!
