this is when dating becomes an issue

Exactly why I am single. I cant ask anyone to wait or bother me as I go through the hell we all call medical school.

Honestly, if there is no future, look forward to yours. Go to medical school and dont look back. Love will find a way if it is meant to be with someone you meet.

this is when dating becomes an issue.
I met this great person about five months ago, have been dating on weekends for a little over two months now. since last month, I have tried to pull myself out of the developing attachment because he just started first year pursuing PhD in Math at age 27. there is five more years to go before he could even graduate. I, on the other hand, want to apply this coming May no matter what, I've waited so long and feeling old.. the only medical school in my current city is among the top 20, I will have almost slim to none chance getting in there knowing some of my friends' stories.
What do you all think of this ? I am not deeply in love with this person, so I can break if off easily, he is the same I guess. But then, dating really becomes an issue for us nontrads in this awkward situation and awkward age.

How old are you?

Nearly 22 years ago I met, dated, and married a woman in 4 months. We're still married and our youngest child will graduate high school soon. Every since I married her, my life has been a miracle of comfort and ease. Life organizes itself around me so that all I have to do is: work at my computer, study, drink the tea that appears in my office, talk to the family who gather in my office, and go to classes.

I'd offer you the solution to your problems and tell you how to get this kind of deal, but I lost my stepford wife software CD.😍

This is why I can consider working full time and going to school full-time while studying for the MCAT. If I had to care for myself again, cook, wash, clean, etc and ALSO try to have a social life, then I wonder how I would even find time to work!

I offer my sincerest condescending sympathies.

Please take this post in the joking manner that I intend it.

^I giggled.. Just a little 😛

Honestly, don't worry about it until the offers come in. Apply to wherever you feel is best and then sit down and talk with him about where this is going so you are all on the same page.

My ex refused to let our relationship become a factor when I applied to grad school and while I was a bit hurt and mad it was a good move. We kept it light and when I moved that was it.

You've heard all the stories by now of how med school can break any strong relationship. Sounds like you guys are doing the right thing by keeping it light.

When you're in med school, you'll be surrounded by peers all doing the same thing as you. I can't say you'll find your true love there, but you might at least find someone to spend time with.

I meant I was giggling at edlongshark's post, not yours agirl.

One word of advice based on the video. NEVER date within your class. Not worth it, trust me! If you do, you better make sure you do not mess up or lose her because the whole class will know things you dont want them to. I have had it done to me and seen it done. Be warned fellas!!

I am in pharm school now and almost all of them have SOs. That part is so true!

Date outside of MD school or just wait to you are the almighty MD, lol!!
