Here is a post I just recieved off the Path Mini Mafia mailing list......"Deathcare"!?!? this stereotype of Pathologists being "Deathcare" really irritated me....are we gonna have to put up with this nonsense all our lives?

Hello,

We are looking for writers to pen articles for our bi-weekly
newsletter and features section of our website. Previous experience
is not necessary, though we ask that you be able to offer a unique
perspective on deathcare-related subjects including pathology and
interaction with the modern funeral director.

Please submit your ideas for an article or column, a brief bio of
yourself and, if applicable, any writing samples you'd like to
include. You can email them in any format to:

[email protected]

Submission guidelines are available upon request.

say what? LOL

latin is a dead language....deathtalk.

deathcare. *cringes*

I don't really think of pathology as deathcare. Especially since autopsy such a small part of my job. And, even then it is not about caring for the dead, but providing answers to the living.

I don't interact with funeral home folks what so ever. Our autopsy assistant does only to release the body.

The whole "deathcare" thing sounds like it relates to the funeral home industry.

wow, they must have read this post!

for those of you not on the Path Mini Mafia list.....the person who had posted the previous message wrote this today:

apology accepted...no harm done.

Helllo,

I wanted to take a moment to apologize for posting my "Writers
Wanted" post without first introducing myself and without
aknowledging the depth and scope of your field.

By no means did I intend to imply that Pathologists are "deathcare"
professionals -- there are many types of pathology and even the
areas that deal with post-mortem work are not responsible for the
care of the deceased as would a trained CFSP. What I was trying to
convey is that people in the deathcare industry are well-served to
establish a good line of communication with those of you that
perform necropsy/post-mortem services and I wanted to hear from
those that do deal with funeral establishments on a regular basis.

There are many issues that affect us that you might not think about,
most important of these would have to be universal precautionary
procedures and communicating cause of death. And I'm sure at some
point it may behoove the pathologist to familiarize themselves with
what we do as well. The only respect I'd ask for is the same that
you'd extend to any other field that falls under Allied Health, as
we most certainly do.

If anyone would like to discuss this, please contact me or post here.

Once again, no offense was intended. Thank you for your time.
