I am sure this is someone else's problem, too, so I am taking it to the masses...
I am having a very hard time writing my letter of intent/personal statement. I am not in doubt of wanting to be a pharmacist, but it is a fairly recent development (known since 2003).
I want it to sound like I have a good head on my shoulders, and not just a page of cliches...any help?

it's hard to think of something good to put down cus you know your future is on the line.

2 words: massive reflection

brainstorm...why you want to be a pharmacist? what inspired you?

and lastly, dont forget to include your knowledge of the field (adcoms dont just wanna see the "i care" message)

hope that sort of helps? try to be concise and orginal. =) good luck!

i think having a reflection on yourself is a great idea. but don't stress over it too much because that'll only make it harder on yourself. try to relate yourself in the PS and although one may think that being 'original' may not be that hard...when you start writing your own PS then you'll understand. adcom has obviously heard every reason why a student wants to be a pharmacist and blah blah blah...so what you may want to do is write the essay in a unique style that represents you as a person (that makes you standout from other candidates) but yet...still has a professional touch to it.

Although no specific advice really matters as they all contradict each other in the end, be sure to TELL THEM THE REAL REASON WHY YOU WANT TO BE A PHARMACIST. Its nice that you care but unless you have a lot of family in the field. . . more or less you are in it for the money. They are not stupid and you are not stupid. They just take a look into your college application and note that you apply to accounting, computer, etc and know what you are in it for.

THE REAL THING THAT MATTERS IS TELLING THEM WHY you will be a good pharmacist and what you will do to ADVANCE the profession while RELATING to the profession. Pharmacy isnt a hard field to get into. You don't even have to take the pcat for it.

See, thats the hard part tho. Telling them how you will ADVANCE the profession? i mean, it sounds easy but how do u articulate that ? All i can think of is.. well i have such and such qualities and I think they fit well in the role of a pharmacist.. but that doesnt sound compelling enough. Do they want applicants to come up with grandiose after school plans ?? SIGH i dont know.. This is the hardest essay i've ever had to write, especially since they're asking you to envision the future at a time when you're still stressing about the present. 🙁
