I just called the National Health Service Corps because I was really interested in participating in their loan repayment program after I graduate from dental school, and I just found out as a permanent resident Im not eligible. I was telling the lady how it was so odd how I am eligible for goverment loans as a permanent resident, but Im not eligible for government loan repayment, weird, eh!

Bahhhh....I guess I have to start studying for my US citizenship test...anyone have any tips or help for the test? 😀 I think Ill be elgible for that during my last year of dental school.

Sorry to hear that!

As an aside, one of our clinical faculty, Dr. Miles, is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Dental School, and is an excellent clinician and all-around guy.

I love you Canucks!

I'm half canuck and american...therefore I am granted dual citizenship by Canada, and American citiz by the US. Cool eh?

Yah hopefully Ill be half canuck, half american soon. I was gonna do it more for my future family to give them the maximum opportunities possible, but I guess I gotta do it for myself now, if I wanna do the NHSC LRP........dang!

I know Gavin has shown interest in this program, anybody else? I know if I dont become a citizen by then, I can still work as an associate in the States, but does anybody know what the difference between an associate and the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program? To me, the loan repayment program seems way too good....

Ive tried to search on the Financial aid forum, but its all medic related!

Gavin: I was reading about Dr. Miles on the Arizona website and am glad that he is representing the Canucks well down there! I love you ummm...Arizonians? 😎
