Sharing my good news of the day: got an interview at Northwestern! (August MCATer, app complete in mid-Sept, invite came by email)

Last year, Harvard's average MCAT was a 34, which means that they take some with lower & some with higher scores. If they wanted to, obviously, they could make their average numbers much higher, but after a certain threshhold, they're looking for other things.

SO this week sucks. I am happy for all of you with good news and such, but I'm getting bummed. Miami rejection, on top of a Wake rejection, on top of an (expected) Hopkins rejection. Fun stuff. Don't wanna take the MCAT again, so now just praying for some interviews which will hopefully lead to some acceptances. Ay-yi! Good luck to everyone!!!!

edit: of course I will take that God-damned test again if I must, but I *really* really don't want to. bleh.

My week has been going pretty well. I had my Yale interview today, first one went well and the second one was harder to tell. The man had a hard time making eye contact and I never realized before how difficult it makes it for me to tell how I'm doing. Then, I heard from Cornell about a suggested interview date, they liked my idea. Tomorrow I go to Hartford for UConn. So, things are really rolling along!

Ouch! Your week is sounding like my last week! 🙁 Luckily I still haven't gotten any more rejections this week, and my applications are finally complete at 4 more schools. I'm just looking forward to those applications now. Maybe there's an interview somewhere in my future! Best of luck everyone . . . 2 more days!! :luck:
 
This week did turn out to be the best week of my life ! I'm in at U Miami, found out an hour ago...screw everyone else for putting us through this process. But, bittersweet, as I know so many of you are still waiting. You've heard it before, but keep the faith and best wishes to everyone!

For all those who don't have such a perfect application, don't give up hope. I just found out I got into Miami too. I am an older (much) out-of-state applicant and this is my only allo interview so far. I have been a math and science teacher for the last ten years. I have a decent MCAT (34R) but a GPA cum of 3.2 (I think my BCPM is a whopping 2.8 and includes at least 3 F's in the same course). I did have some post-bacc hours (40) at 3.8. My transcript is littered with W's and community college credits. I have no research experience, no formal or recent shadowing, and although I've been told my LOR's are glowing, they are not from the typical sources. I just wanted to remind those who haven't gotten 15+ interview invites that it only takes one. Good luck to all of you.
 
How did you get into U of M? Don't they have an out-of-state GPA cutoff of 3.5 for secondary? I guess the post-bacc brought you up. Anyhow, congrats, and yes, it does only take 1 (the number of interviews I have now!)
 
The only "medically-related" stuff I got this week was an advertisement card from Ross University.


So bummed 🙁 I wish I had taken the April MCAT.....
 
only one more day left in this week .... this process is def. stressful ... plan to study Spanish so that I won't check email like crazy ...

Oh, I had emailed them about the fact that I was going to be out east doing another interview and I suggested a range of dates that I would be out. It got them going, we were able to eventually hook up on one.

I took the April MCAT, but my files didn't complete until late September due to the lateness of my LORs. I guess I might as well be an August MCATer.

I know I'm about to sulk, but I didn't get any new interviews this week. 🙁 There, now that I've felt sorry for myself, I'm going to be realistic and know that I had a big week interviewing and scheduling. I hope everyone who read this thread got something they wanted this week!

You are doing great! As for me no good news this week, but no bad news either. Maybe next week will be better.
 
11th hour heroics. The beginning of the week was looking abysmal with 3 rejections, but I just got an interview invite today via mail from Drexel. Yay, I get to go to Philly. 🙂

Funny how I've gotten interviews from 8 other schools, but my own ****ing alma mater just rejected me today post-secondary. Bitches. Sorry to rain on this thread, but it's just not working out for me. I have no acceptances, one waitlist, 2 rejections, and I'm very cranky.
 
Despite the negative post before me I just wanted to post here in hope of gatehering good luck. I swear I'm going to get an invite from UTSW or Baylor next week.

Me: 2 (Penn State acceptance, UVM interview invite)
Them: 1 (VCU post-interview rejection)

Better ahead than behind, I say.
 
Well, nothing new this week for me (had a nice interview, though). Next week will be great because of Thanksgiving!!! Yay for turkey and pumpkin cheesecake! 😀
 
I realize I'm a day late posting this, but I finally got my first acceptance yesterday! I got into Wake, so I'm super happy about an acceptance but not so happy that it's so far away (I'm in NY). Oh well, I still have a few more schools to hear from and I'm happy to know I'll at least be going somewhere in less than a year!!!! Thanks for starting this thread JDAD. I knew gleaning the luck from it would work out sooner or later! 😀

Are you kidding? This post is good luck! 🙂 Lets look at Wake's numbers from 2002 ----- 5175 applicants! Uh, yeah congrats man...that's f*cking awesome, I'd kill someone to go to Wake. (Or if not "someone" then at least Michael Moore)

Wow! congrats liver! I don't really know you that well, but I look forward to your posts because I'm another 2.xer and your posts give us other 2.xers hope. No homefield advantage with VCU huh? Good luck with the rest of your schools.
 
This thread definately brought me some luck this week! (and after a miserable monday when I got my first rejection... oh UCSF, I didnt want your warm luscious climate anyway 🙂) But after staying positive all week, I got interviews at Baylor and Duke.

Hooray! Happy dance!
