This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey! I just got my acceptance to Thomas Jefferson OTD program! I wanted to make this to see if anyone else has been accepted!
Do you mind my asking when you sent your application in verse when you got accepted?

Congratz! How did you find out? Did they call, email, or mail the acceptance? Waiting to hear back about the MOT...

I sent in my application back in August. My interview was on 10/23 and I found out today (two weeks after the interview)!

I was also accepted! Will you be attending or are you waiting on other schools?

I went ahead and put my deposit down! I have an interview at BU and that was my number one before the interview. When did you interview?

I'll probably end up doing the same. I have an interview with Belmont and Rush and waiting to hear from Pitt (my #1), but Jefferson is definitely a solid #2 choice right now. I interviewed the 23rd!

Congratulations!!! I just received an offer to interview for the TJU OTD program this morning and scheduled for November 20th. Would you mind sharing your experience with the interview process? I understand it's a group interview and feel fairly comfortable answering questions about the field and why I chose to pursue it. However, if you recall any questions catching you off guard or anything about your experience that stands out in your mind, it would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much, and congrats again! You earned it! :highfive:

I just wanna say that even I interviewed in 2015 (has it really been that long?) it felt more relaxed than I thought. There were no gotcha questions (IMO) and it felt fairly relaxed and conversational. Hopefully you'll find it as great as I did!

That's great! Honestly, the interview experience sold me on it. Before I interviewed I briefly went to Philadelphia to visit some friends and it was a distant third. But the interview experience, the staff I worked with, and the students that led the tour really made it jump in value. There weren't any questions that really caught me off guard. One thing that I appreciated was that we sit in a straight line, but the order differs for each question. This way it's not the same people going first or last. There was a little activity you do with some of the other interviewees, but overall it was a great experience. If you have any other questions, feel free to inbox me! I would say don't come with anything really prepared because I think they appreciate authentic answers, and if someone goes before you, you don't want to approach the question the same exact way.

Do you guys know how much Thomas Jefferson weighs in things like extra curriculars and experiences versus just GPA and GRE?

They say (just like most do) that they look at the candidate holistically. I will say my cumulative GPA wasn't the best, and my GRE scores were above what they recommended to be competitive, but I do think they really take into account your interview as well as your life experience.

Did you get in?? How long did it take for you to hear a decision after the interview?

i interviewed mid october and was accepted into the EMOT program! will be attending for sure
Congratulations!! One of the awesome things about the program that I really loved was you take several classes with all three programs (BS/MS, EMOT, and OTD)! I personally can't wait!!!

I was considering making a Facebook Group for all of us who will be attending! It seems in the past that most people have made a group for those entering for the EMOT, OTD, and BSMSOT since we will be taking classes together. Has anyone else made a group?

I have just been invited to an interview at Jeff for their BSMS OT program!! Does anyone have any interview tips? Also, does anyone know anyone who has interviewed there and did not get in? Please let me know! Thanks guys

I interviewed for their OTD program in November. I'm not sure how different the interview process is between programs, but overall it's a great experience and I'd echo a lot of what has already been mentioned in this thread. It felt relaxed and conversational - and I was extremely nervous going into it. Try to keep in mind that as much as they are interviewing you, you are interviewing them as well! They're trying to determine if you're a good fit for their program, and you're trying to determine if their program is the best means for you to become the successful OT you dream of being. Practice speaking positively of yourself. In my experience at least, this doesn't come naturally, and the best way to get comfortable doing so is to practice. Another suggestion is to not attempt to memorize answers to specific questions (e.g. "Why do you want to be an OT?"), but rather draft stories and anecdotes based on your personal experiences that you can pull from and work with to answer their questions, kind of like a word bank on an exam. Lastly, don't for one second stop telling yourself that you're going to do great! Visualize your acceptance every day up until the interview is over. Good luck!

Thank you so much for all of your advice!! I'm so exicted/nervous/anxous, so this will defintely help me out. Congratulations on your acceptance too!!
