Typical day: classes start usually at 10am, sometimes 9am (1-2days/week)
we have classes 3-4hrs/day usually in the same classroom.
Then usually from 3pm on your day is free. For me, I head to the library study and have breaks for dinner and such.
I think most of us study a fair amount until thursday, fri, & weekend. Thursday is Marathon night usually, $1 drinks across the street from barringer.
For your first year half of the class will be in community pharmacy and 2nd semester is service learning (each half switches so everyone will do both). Its called an IPPE (Introduct. Pharm Pract Experiental) and its 3hrs / week. Community is basically going to indep pharmacies, and chain stores... you learn from the preceptor in charged of that pharmacy. Service learning is more dealing with community service, interacting with the low income, homeless, disabled population --- its more interesting IMO.
Tips? nothing really. Come to Philly with an open mind (it is a city with many homeless people around), explore the city as much as you can before starting classes, create a fb group and mingle & get to know your fellow classmates before starting. Classes are small so you'll know everyone after a few months. No tips for classes, if you really want to do something then review your A&P. You'll get patho I and they'll expect you to know what happens normally bc it won't really be reviewed... Other than that, i wouldn't worry too much. Just enjoy it before you get here... pharm school is tough!
I hope that helps.
