Have a denial for lack medical necessity from BCBS for an RF I already did. Any positive outcome papers out there? I like to appeal these as far as possible.

Thank you in advance.

hey -

make sure you forward that over to Lax. This is starting to become ridiculous!!

As ppl have stated on here before, RFA is some of the best stuff we do. It actually works!!

I am publishing a case report on 2 pts with CRPS that I took care of all symptoms with thoracic RF's that the stellate failed to cover. The stellate RF on one pt took all his L upper ext symptoms except for the hand, and in the other pt the stellate did not cover her R arm CRPS at all and the thoracic did . I did RFTC at T2, 3, and 4 lower 1/3, middle and upper 1/3 respectivel.y

what is your indication for it? Thoracic sympathectomies for hyperhidrosis is very common and that can be used as justificaiton for sympathetic innvervation to the hands and distal arm

Nice results! I believe the OP was talking about thoracic MB RFA however, not thoracic sympathetic RF...

That big recent Waldman book has a section on RF by Rosenthal with a reference to a paper on RF at all levels and there were something like 15/17 thoracics that had good outcomes. I can look it up when I get home.

I hope it gets published - keeping working your way down the impact factor chain until it does. I'd like to read this.
