Thoracoplasty Indications???

Hello there surgeons et al.

I had a question in regards to thoracoplasties. It seems from what I've read, thoracoplasties (removal of usu 7-8 ribs) were something that was done back in the day for TB. Additionally, it seems as though it's used for scoliosis. An attending was telling a whole group of us that thoracoplasties are coming back. Anyone have any links/websites about the indications for these, preferabbly something recent? Apparently there's a very RECENT article presenting the INDICATIONS for thoracoplasty (I could not find anything recent)

I've googled and done a pubmed search to no real avail. Any help and/or discussion as to the indications and what this is would be great. Especially, more current commentary on this procedure. I'm an MS3 and i'm not asking you all to do my work, but some direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

believe me i've googled a billion times! but the thing is, as in the link that you sent me, the literature is very brief. I need more info since i need to do a ppt on this matter.

Any other ideas/sources? I've even checked sabiston and couple of other texts but only see about a paragraph or so on stuff.

Finally....can anyone PLEASE name me the 'various types of thoracoplasty'? Perhaps I can get get more results by typing those names in since the generic 'thoracoplasty' doesnt get me to far.
