hey guys, I've seen some threads over the past few days about people giving up, or questioning their motives, or dealing with burnout. I stumbled across the images in clinical medicine section of nejm, which is free. i started reading the stories that go along with the pictures and realized two things. one, i f***ing love science, and two, this is totally the right decision for me. so if you're looking for something interesting or are just kicking around wondering why you should care about xx, check it out!

they've a ton of back issues on there

Yup, I enjoy these a lot when I get some downtime at work.

Another thing I like is reading the "A Piece of my mind" section in JAMA. It presents a more humanistic perspective that's nice after spending a week in the clinical lab running hundreds of CBCs and Chem panels and starting to forget that there's living breathing ppl behind those samples.

The one I read last week was a pretty awesome one by a medical student. I almost posted it here but I'm not that fluent with my iPad yet. Lol

Speaking of which, what would you guys think about a sort of "cool things" thread were we could sort of keep these neat little articles and stories together. Like this one, my link, that one NuttyEngDude posted recently, that article awhile back on that guy who went to med school way later in life and matched in plastics or something, and things like that.

Just a random idea...
