Hello,

I'm currently finalizing my list of schools for DO/MD and was wondering if anyone here had any additional suggestions. Initially, with my low sGPA/cGPA, I was not intending on applying to medical school; however, one of my close friends convinced me that giving it a shot was not a bad idea if I have the funds and am willing to do so. I was wondering if anyone would like to look over my list - potentially tell me if anything is in or out of my league, or if there are any more schools I should be considering for DO or MD? Many thanks.

DO
  • Touro-NY
  • PCOM
  • LECOM
  • West Virginia
  • Lincoln Memorial University
  • MSUCOM
  • CCOM
  • WCU
  • ACOM
MD
  • U of Tenn
  • East Tenn
  • Michigan State
  • U of Arkansas
  • Drexel or Tulane.

What is your state of residency? Right now you have public schools in Tennessee, Michigan, and Arkansas. With your stats, you can't justify applying to public MD schools in states where you're not a resident. I think you should absolutely replace those nonresident public schools with lower-tier private schools like Albany, NYMC and/or CMS, or with public schools that draw an appreciable portion of their class from OOS - namely U Vermont or EVMS.

100% concur. Stick with your state school and DO programs and you'll be fine.
