Thoughts on deciding between offers?

I'm sure by this point there are some people who have had multiple offers. So, I figure some people are either in the process of deciding between multiples, or have already made up their mind.

Anyone like to share how they did / how they are making their decisions?

Tuition, cost of living, surrounding area, student body, clinicals, match list, research, curriculum.

I will likely not make a final decision until financial aid packages come in. Also, the second look weekends that some schools have are helpful in the decision making process.

I'm with krelian on this one, you don't have to decide until they show you the $$$ and the second looks.

factors that were important for me:
-cheap housing within a mile of campus
-easy bike ride to campus, can ride most of year
-support system of friends not in med school, who live close by
-benign weather so that when I get up at 4 a.m. for rotations in 3rd year, it won't be -20
-major airport so that I can easily travel to family if necessary
-weekly clinical exposure with real patients, starting at beginning of first year
-multiple opportunities for rotations at a variety of sites with different patient populations, etc.
-limited number of students rotating at each site
-opportunities for rural rotations with 1-to-1 teaching by attending
-reasonable tuition

Probably a stupid question, but how do you find out which schools have second look weekends and which schools reimburse you for travel costs? I've swear I've read every page of the admissions handbooks to the schools I've been accepted at, and have never seen any of them mention second looks.

I haven't found it published in any school material, it seems to be a hush hush thing. Best way to find out is from previous years' sdn posts.

great post, though perhaps a few months before may 15. i'd love to hear what some current med students think/used, before we get to the traditonal "school x vs. school y" threads.
