I just wanted to get some input from those who have taken the written and oral anesthesia boards...which review courses were most helpful? I have heard Niels Jensen, MD for writtens, what about orals?

Michael Ho

Ho's course is the best course I know of. Supplement that with some practice exams by faculty members who have experience as board examiners. Supplement that with any faculty member who is willing to offer you help. Supplement that with exams given back and forth between residency classmates who are taking the exam as well. Supplement that with practicing speaking out loud in a clear and concise manner. Even a non medical person can read off some questions to give you some practice at speaking clearly but can't give meaningful feedback on content. Supplement that with asking yourself the questions and tape recording your answers and then critique your own style(it is really tough to listen to yourself and you will be your worst critic). Eliminate jargon from your medical vocabulary and minimize the occurrence of things like "uhhh" and other phrases that would make you sound like Beavis and Butthead:laugh: If you take it to this level and have many exams under your belt by the time you take it for real, chances are you will pass without difficulty.

Jensen has a pretty good oral prep as well..it is mock oral based....you take a few exams and listen to many others
