If I don't believe in fluoride or metal fillings, can and should I become a dentist? I guess what I am asking is what are my choices if I were become a dentist? I am guessing I would have to use fluoride? I also do not believe in root canals. Please tell me what your thoughts are on this. Does anyone regret going to dental school? I am asking these questions here because I want to hear from those that know more about dentistry as opposed to applicants that might not know as much. Thanks.

My thoughts exactly, minus the studying part.
The OP can be a "holistic dentist." Problem is, you can't become a holistic dentist until you go through dental school and pass all the exams on why the majority of your colleagues believe in fluoride and amalgams. After you graduate and get a license, you can practice however you want provided your conscience can live with it.

Fixed it for 'ya gryffindor 😉
There is in some areas a niche market for holistic dentists, and many a malpractice attorney takes note of their location when one open up😉

I'm with you. Flouride is a communist conspiracy. You just treatment plan to extract everyone's teeth for full denture replacement so you and they don't have to deal with flouride, fillings, root canals, etc.
Thanks to DrJeff for beating me to the punch. "Believe in"? Dentistry is a SCIENCE, not some religious cult.
I think you'll do fine in dental school-especially if you end up going somewhere open to new ideas and modern techniques. Many of the modalities mentioned are no longer cutting edge and have increasing numbers of people express dissatisfaction with them as blindly-accepted treatment options. For example, emerging trends in dentistry suggest less invasive treatment is almost always an option if utilized correctly. Here are links to just two examples of technology capable of revolutionizing the dental industry that have yet to gain widespread acceptance- http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/electric-toothbrushes/m/5384887/
