With a navy suit and white shirt. Conservative enough? I’ve heard the preference is solid and not red so I wasn’t sure

Wear whatever you want as long as it's not distractingly intricate.

Tie is dotted? Cool.
Tie is a solid color? Cool.
Tie is striped? Cool.
Tie has a goddamn dragon breathing fire? Not cool. Don't wear that one.

That last tie sounds pretty cool to me, to be honest

You could consider using this instead OP... It changes color for every occasion! In all seriousness though, your tie combo would be fine OP.

Stand out from the crowd! Wear a polk-a-dot bow tie and bright orange frilly tux.

If you have a Navy blue suit and a white shirt, just wear a blue-shaded tie, with small polkadots or some Non- distracting pattern.
If the interviewer notices the tie, it’s probably not a good thing. Don’t let the tie distract from your interview

I'm going to tell you a secret. When you sit across from me in a live interview, I get a good look at your tie. In a Zoom interview on my laptop, your tie is about an inch long and an 1/8" wide and I could no more tell you what it looked like than I could tell your eye color on a zoom. I'm just not getting that close to the screen to pick out details.

Dang, I forgot to ask my son what tie he wore for the ones he already completed. Did I miss my edge trimming moment? 🙂
