Competitivness
Quality of Program

thanks

Hi jmdeer,

Iam presently a ca-1 @VCU/MCV. I think that the program provides residents with a great varierty of cases and a solid clinical experience. We have lots of trauma, transplants and a decent supply of regional cases.
The atmosphere is laid back and the hours r not bad. We have a night float like system. Residents take trauma call that starts @ 7p and ends @7a. u r often up all night doing cases.

There is time to read and many of the attendings enjoy working with and mentoring residents. I find this to b a big +.

I am very happy @ this program. No where is perfect but most of the residents r happy.

I do not know about the competitiveness of the program. I would guess that we r somewhere in the middle. However, numbers alone do not define an applicant.
