I have used the website's search features, and cannot find a place where recently accepted MD students are convening. I was recently accepted to my state university's MD program, and am interested in talking with future classmates about books, housing, etc. Is this something better served via facebook? Or should I start a thread that says something like "UCONN School of Medicine Class of 2017"?

Thanks!

Most students who have been accepted likely aren't committed to that school yet. But you could try facebook.

Congrats on the UCONN acceptance (assuming that wasn't just a hypothetical)! I would try to use Facebook. There's a general sense of wanting to maintain anonymity on SDN (and perhaps for good reasons). Arranging housing however is something that is best done when the actual identities of who you are talking are known. So I'd say maybe make a Facebook group and put the link in the school specific thread for UCONN and that allows people to make the jump from anonymity (SDN) to personal communication (Facebook).

Thank you! And great advice. A little bit later on in the cycle, I think I will do just that.

Definitely use the school specific threads. Once the class is more settled, there will likely be a class facebook group set up (by adcom or otherwise) to facilitate communication.
