There was a thread here about extracurriculars yesterday and now its gone! And i seen a thread about grade inflation disappear two weeks ago. Why do threads keep disappearing?

Depending on your settings, you may only see threads from the last few days.
Go to your user cp---edit options. Part way down the page are the thread display options. In this section is the default thread age cut-off. Sounds like you should have yours set for a longer time period.
