BRS physio page 241 says, it increases both!!!

I don't know about BRS but Robbin's clearly states,
"...stimulation of carbohydrate and lipid catabolism and protein synthesis in a wide range of cells. The net result is an increase in the BMR."

Caveat: both anabolic and catabolic protein pathways are stimulated; in hyperthyroidism the net effect is catabolic.
