So they tested a Tiger for SARS-CoV-2 which was positive, It appears a validated PCR for cats has been developed. It’s been pretty well known that pets have been catching it, I don’t see what information testing pets really offers.
Shouldn’t we be using the materials on humans where we still have a major shortage with testing, and for which clinical management changes may occur. These tests although for animals still use primers, master mix, Taq and swabs, shouldn’t they be diverted to our healthcare system.

Seven more big cats test positive for coronavirus at Bronx Zoo
Following a National Geographic inquiry, the zoo confirms that four more tigers and three lions have the virus. This comes the same day as two pet cats in New York become the first in the U.S. to test positive.
