The situation:
I am taking the test on Jul: 2.. this date cannot change
I still have 1388 unused questions on UWorld
I am 5/15 days through doctors in training which consumes a humungous part of my day and limits my ability to do questions (I still manage 2 blocks a day + review them though).
-I've been advised going through UWorld twice was pretty important but I just dont see how thats possible.

There is no way in hell im gonna be able to do UW twice unless I forgo a final pass in FA which cant happen.. I dont know how id be able to pull it off..

I might be able to do wrong answers twice, at least most of them,

but I take the exam Jul 2:

I still have 1388 questions unused
I still have 10 more DIT days left.. plus 2 days to devote to practice exams (although one of those days will be UWSA #1 + 3 Qbank practice blocks to simulate a 7 block exam, so thatll cover some qbank questions at least)

but I calculated that if I do 2 blocks a day tomorrow through thursday + the 3 on friday. thats only 720 more questions leaving me with 668 remaining 2 weeks out of UNUSED questions.. and at that point i'd still have 4 more days of DIT, so i'd only be able to do at most 2 blocks a day for those 4 days..

all that said and done.. that leaves me with 284 questions unused with 9 days before my test.

Now at that point, I need to be doing other stuff like cramming in biochem, running through FA again, reading Goljan, etc.

The only way I can see myself saving time and doing more questions is to stop annotating things into first aid. I will of course read over ever explanation but up until now whenever i come across something I flat out have never seen before I put it into FA. I'm starting to wonder if I should just stop that and do 3 blocks a day instead of 2.. because the time it takes to find the FA page and write **** in is immense.

Alternatively.. the day after DIT.. I could do nothing but questions the entire day, but Im worried if I do 200 questions in one day I won't retain as much.. then again, isnt that what I just did today with NBME6?!

I know this is a convoluted post, but any ideas would be appreciated. I think what I might do is divide the first 2 of those 9 days to finish out 142 questions each day and go over them.. and spend the rest of the day reading FA or whatever.. and then then do NBME 7. Then on days 4-8 will be my final pass in FA, cram in biochem pathways, low yield enzymes, stuff like that along with doing UW Wrong answers at least 100 a day. I dont think I want to do any studying the day before the test.. But I might be willing to do just questions in the morning.

My suggestion: don't focus on your goal of doing UW twice. Even completing it once is an accomplishment in it self (not on SDN, though, were people are doing it 3+ times over...). What's important is you learn from it. I had originally planned on doing UW 2x, but now I've changed my plan to completing it and redoing the wrong questions. I'll have just barely enough time, but that's ok. You definitely might want to brush up on the little details in biochem, micro, etc, especially if you haven't done them for a while, so make sure you fit that in the end.

Also, what I realized that helps with annotating from UW is not annotating into FA because it gets lost in all the shuffle/detail, and you might not get to it. Annotate into a separate notebook (like some others here have suggested). Here's what has really worked very well for me and I actually remember from my UW mistakes. For every UW block you do and review:
1. Keep your FA and/or goljan RR open
2. Read the explanation of an answer. If you need to annotate, write a very brief one-two line sentence in your separate notebook.
3. Refer to your FA/goljan if needed (for example, flip to the urea cycle quickly in FA to skim over it). This way you get more familiar with it without realizing..
4. At the end of your UW dedicated time, reread the notes you took For me, 2 block equal 1 lined sheet of paper, both sides, so reading takes 10 minutes.
5. Re-read your 2 pages at night before bed/during dinner/ etc. This time it'll take 5 minutes to read....

It seems like a lot of work, but I think I've gotten it down to a science. It takes me under 2 hours to review a block.

You'll be very surprised how well this works. I've gotten many, many questions on UW correct just because I remember notes from my book. Plus, the more you remember, the less notes you take the next time....

Sorry for the long answer, but this is what's been working for me, and 2 weeks out from the test, I also don't have time to do UW twice -- why not really learn well from what you can do? 🙂
