Time for a 3rd shot?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
and CDC recommends against for HCW....ok CDC up in your laboratories away from the covid patients.
Even happier now that I got a 3rd dose last week.

HCWs have a higher infection/positivity rate than the general public, and those of us who work in anesthesia, the ICU, ED etc are probably getting log-fold higher exposure to delta virions than most HCWs...but yet a booster for HCW is a blanket no? That's nonsense.

Agree. Got mine too a few weeks ago. I willingly take care of these patients but only under the condition that I have adequate PPE and the best possible vaccine protection. There’s no dispute that a booster dose enhances our immunity. Asking people to risk illness without providing the best possible protection is absurd in my mind, especially when we are wasting millions of doses of vaccine.

I agree that HCW working in close proximity to covid patients, especially anesthesiologists, intensivists, anesthesia assistants, icu nurses and anesthesia nurses should be offered boosters. The data out there suggest no increased harm or side effects from booster, just a question about whether it provides a significant improvement in protection. Well if we are constantly exposed as a high risk grouo even a little bit increase in protection is good in my book

I guess not all healthcare workers have similar levels of exposure, but I will be interested in hearing more about why there was a divergence of expert opinions on the matter.
