Has anyone successfully juggled a busy rotation schedule with a research project during 3rd year rotatons? Would I be crazy to opt towards rotating at a single hospital over several (through a lottery system) with the hopes of getting involved in some research?

On one hand I'd like to be exposed to different hospitals etc, on the other finally getting some exposure to clinical research sounds 😎

During some of the less time-intensive rotations you may have a chance to get involved with some research. Usually the best type of project that lends itself to this kind of schedule is a chart review project.

Do you have hospitals in your system that are in the same area? You might not have to be at the same hospital throughout the year as long as you are nearby.

I presented at 4 conferences during m3 and spent 15-20 hours/wk in the lab, just have to be efficient with your time management.

If the hospital that you want to do research at has an EMR you can also do chart review type research from home and it doesn't matter where you do your rotations.
