lately i've been seeing a lot of posts where a few people are being rude, impolite, and just plain jerks (myself included, but ONLY in retaliation to stuff said to me! not an excuse i know 😛)

there's really no need to become condescending and insulting to prove a point or show superiority. this IS a professional network after all... no need for egos, right?

Half of the reason why I come to SDN is for entertainment. I'd rather see some jackass spewing out **** out of his ass, than see some goody-good saying "your chances are greaaaaaaaaatt!! keep hoping to get in! it'll come soon" zzzzz I just fell asleep while typing that. shoot me now

Yea, I also hate it when someone with a 2.7 GPA and 22 DAT makes a post and people tell him/her to retake the DAT and shoot for 25+. Well geez, what about increasing your GPA or doing a postbacc/master's?

And how do you know if those other posters weren't being honest? Maybe they were honest but just had different opinions. Even worse, maybe they were thinking you weren't honest.

I would also encourage someone with a 3.1 and an 18 DAT. I acknowledge that a 3.5 and a 20 DAT would open more doors but there are some dental schools that admit students around a 3.0. I've seen it happen; the pre-dents website shows it happening.
