Hi everyone!

I was wondering how long it took for you all to actually get accepted into a dental program after you started studying for nbde part 1.

Thanks

It depends on the time you finish part 2 and application process starts sept.-dec. Almost all programs start in July (there may be some that would consider an off cycle resident) if you are just starting now, be sure to pass part2 by september so you can get your applications out and if you get accepted, able to start july '15.

Thanks for the responses! I probably should have phrased my question differently. What I was trying to ask was how long it took for those of you that are now in programs to be admitted to them, spanning back to the first day you began studying for the first exam. I've just started preparing for part 1 and I'm trying to figure out the average period of time until I'll actually be in a program.

It took me a whole year while working full time. I guess it can be a lot shorter if you concentrated on reviewing 24/7. Best of luck.

Thanks. I guess I'll need more time than that because of full-time work and 2 kids🙂

Finished my NBDE part 2 in 2003, got accepted into school and started in 2006, in my case though I wasn't sure what I was going to do, it took me awhile to decide 🙂

What do you think my chances are? My WES GPA is 3.74, I have 8 months of experience as a dentist, more than 10 years experience as a dental lab technician and a 6 month internship in a dental office. (All in Germany except 4month as a dental technician in the states)
I haven't taken the NBDE yet and don't have my ECE GPA yet.
Thanks

Schanner,

Your stats are actually pretty good. If at all possible, just try to boost your U.S. experience like shadowing or assisting. However, if you're already working a full time job, I know that may be easier said than done. Good luck.

Thank you, Mostro!
My plan is to hopefully pass part 1 and then I wanna build up my experience here with work on the weekends.
